The Benefits of a Doula are now widely recognized. Having a person present who is experienced in childbirth, providing advice, information, emotional support, and physical comfort to a mother before, during, and just after childbirth is beneficial to the family and the birthing experience as a whole.
The benefits include:
fewer complications / interventions
less forceps or vacuum
less pain medicine used
more positive experiences
Additionally, less stress is placed on husbands and partners, allowing them to be emotionally and physically present in whatever way they are able, rather than relying on them to be birthing coaches.
